Action Planning allows a user (business, advisor, accountant, and franchisor) to develop a business strategy and then review that strategy for its impact on the business as a whole.
Is the strategy viable?
The impact, the viability, is provided on a graphically visual representation of time and financial and human resource capacity, called a Strategy Chart. This allows for immediate analysis of the logic behind the strategy and its financial worth to the business.
Importantly, changes to one item of a strategy will immediately update all the financial budgets, staffing capacity forecasts, other reports, as well as the strategy chart. The planning is fully integrated.
Unlike Business Planning, which is long term in nature, say 2-5 years, Action Planning is tactical short term planning for the coming months, usually 12 months only. Furthermore, unlike Business Planning, which can be expensive and time consuming, you can do your Action Planning in less than a day!

A sample of a Strategy Chart is Joanna’s Toys & Books. Here you can see that two strategies are being considered to be undertaken in the months of August and September. Are they viable? You can quickly see that by implementing them, Joanna will be putting the business under staffing and financial stress. However, you can also see that Joanna is employing a new assistant. If Joanna simply moves one or both strategies to after December Joanna may well find that she has more staffing availability and more cash.
